"Discovering Divine Assistance: God's Provision for Effective Ministry" with Gina Bauer

The Psalmist writes: "I lift my eyes toward the mountains, whence shall help come to me? My help is from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.' (Ps. 121). And again, "Unless the Lord build the house, they labor in vain who build it." (Ps. 127:1)

Without doubt, youth ministry is a lot of time, energy and effort. It's a labor of love. The good news is that we are not in this work alone. And too often, we forget that the Lord is with us. He has made spiritual provision to assist us in His mission to reach young people for Him. Specific spiritual provision which many of us may not be aware of.

"Be Filled With the Holy Spirit" with Fr. Jim Livingston

You know what it's like to wait for a gift that you know is coming soon, like waiting for Christmas. It's exciting; it's something to look forward to. And that's exactly how it felt with the disciples of Jesus when He told them they would receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

They found out a few days later on a holiday called "Pentecost". All were filled with the Holy Spirit and their lives were changed. They had a new power at work in them. They would never be the same.

Prepare your hearts for a grace-filled night of praise, worship and anointed preaching and prayer.

Doors open at 5:30 PM.

An Evening of Praise, Worship and The WORD! with Fr. Andrew Cozzens & SONAR

It happened the evening of Easter Sunday. You know the story. The disciples of Jesus were locked away in an upper room in fear for their lives. After all, Jesus, their leader, had been crucified and the disciples were convinced they were next. But what happened? Jesus came, stood in their midst, showed them His hands and side then said, "Peace be with you." How did the disciples respond? Scripture tells us, "The disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord." (Jn. 20:20)

Doors open at 5:30 PM.

LENTEN DAY OF REFLECTION WITH FR. JIM LIVINGSTON

The Release of the Spirit

Anyone who serves God will discover sooner or
later that the great hindrance to effective, fruitful
ministry is not others but ourselves. The Lord so
desires to use His servants for His glory, however,
there is one basic lesson which every servant of
God must learn.

If you have questioned why life and vitality are
lacking in your ministry, set this second day of
Lent apart.

Our retreat leader is Fr. Jim Livingston.
A Carmelite Priest serving the Archdiocese of
St.Paul and Minneapolis, Fr. Jim will celebrate Mass, preach,
teach and pray with us as we begin these ‘Sacred Forty Days.’

"Senior High Ministry in the Catholic Church today" with Bob Swift

It's no surprise that retaining Catholic teens after they receive the sacrament of Confirmation is challenging to say the least. How do we keep these young people engaged and active in their faith?

Bob Swift will be with this month to look at this issue. He will identify barriers to effective high school ministry, how to build a solid foundation before high school and how to equip high school teens for youth ministry in your parish.

God has a vocation - a special call - for each one of us whether it is priesthood, religious life, the consecrated single life or to sacred marriage and family life.

With us this month is Gina Bauer. Gina speaks to thousands of young people throughout the country. She will inspire and challenge us with the truth of God's grand design and divine mission for which family is created.

"Are We Really Proclaiming the Gospel?" with Ryan O'Hara

How do evangelization and catechesis fit together in Youth Ministry? Can a Youth Minister focus on one (catechesis OR evangelization) to the exclusion of the other? Using John Paul II's "On Catechesis in Our Time", this session will consider the potential pitfalls in your Youth Ministry program if you fail to get this connection right, but also what you can hope for, in the lives of teenagers, if you do.

"Who Will God Raise Up?" with Bishop Piche

The time is now as the modern world awaits the emergence of a handful of spiritual heroes and heroines who will serve the Church as Priests, Religious Sisters and Religious Brothers.

Those specially called as witnesses of hope to a world in desperate need of the Good News. The question is not, Will God raise up great men and women for the Church's mission? The question is, Who will God raise up? And the answer is: those you least expect.

With us for this great evening is our very special guest Bishop Lee Piche, auxiliary of this Archdiocese. He will be joined by Fr. Peter Williams from the Archdiocesan Vocations Office. We especially welcome a great team of priests, religious brothers and sisters from various religious orders around the country.

"Go Therefore & Make Disciples" Matt 28:18

Most Catholic leaders are aware of Christ's commission to the Church to make disciples. They have heard the call to the "New Evangelization." However, there is often a lack of direction in engaging these tasks in the context of parish life.
This event will explain what the new evangelization is, how it fits into a parish's youth ministry and religious education program, and outline some proven methods and techniques for the evangelization of youth.

Includes dynamic sessions for Adult Leaders & Catechists, High School Teens, and Music & Worship Leaders!

Featuring Jason Simon of Evangelical Catholic, NET Mission Staff & NET Team 9.

"So Great a Love"

with Fr. Mike Schmitz

"Love" is a word that can take on so many different meanings. We love our family, our favorite foods, and our pets. It is often defined in terms of emotion, personal satisfaction, or even mere pleasure. Yet our deepest instincts yearn for faithful, lasting love. Our deepest desire knows this is true. Can we really grasp the full meaning of the good news that "God is love" (I John 4:8), or the commandment "Love one another as I have loved you" (John 15:12), based on the worldly definitions of that word?

In a powerful message, Fr. Mike Schmitz will take on this very question, so basic to understanding who we are as disciples of Jesus and what that means for us in the world.

Doors open at 5:30 PM.

What do most teenagers believe? What religion are they actually following? Has a new American religion emerged? Does it bear any resemblance to Catholicism? This session will take a challenging look at the beliefs of American teenagers, their unique approach to faith and religion, and what you and I must do about it.

With us this month is Ryan O'Hare. Ryan in new to the Twin Cities from Phoenix, Arizona where he was involved in youth and young adult ministry through the Diocese of Phoenix. He has been involved with youth and young adult ministry for over 15 years and will share some of his extensive knowledge of the youth culture here in America.

God is good… all the time! And all the time…God is good! Well if God is that great (which He is!) then what about YOU?! In this world where the noise is so loud, what is your response to such a good God? Our generation is being called right now to be louder than the world and be the lampstand on the hill. Now, more than ever, Catholics need to be the feet and hands of God — love in action! You have more impact than you know!

Michael Hoffman is explosively funny! Hilarious, engaging, entertaining and unique in his ability to reach people on an emotional and practical level at the same time. Be the light that God intended you to be!

"Building a Volunteer Dream Team"

Lets face it.  If you are a DRE, CRE, Youth Ministry Coordinator or a Volunteer Youth Minister, one of your biggest challenges is recruiting, training and retaining an effective team of adult/young adults.  Catechists, small group leaders and other volunteers are the lifeblood of your programs AND without them, you will find yourself on the fast track to burnout.  With a well trained and cohesive team, watch what can happen.

Leading this strategic session is Joe Roueche from NET Ministries and Mary Kohlhaas from the Church of Saint Paul in Ham Lake.  Each has 20+ years in Catholic Youth Ministry.  They will share proven and practical tips and strategies which you can immediately implement as you prepare for next year.
