Don't drown in debt.

With Student Debt Assistance, we’ll help pay down your student loans while you serve as a missionary.

College graduate serving the Lord on mission as a NET Missionary.

Up to $300 per month

There can be many barriers to serving as a missionary—don’t let student debt be one of them. Your 20s are an amazing time to give a year to the Lord, grow in your faith, and make a difference in the world. If you’re a college graduate serving with NET and need to pay off student loans, we’ll cover up to $300 per month while you’re serving.

Student Debt Assistance FAQs

What is Student Debt Assistance (SDA)?

NET’s Student Debt Assistance gives NET Missionaries the opportunity to receive monetary assistance toward the payment of student loans while they serve as a NET Missionary.

How much assistance can you receive through SDA?

Missionaries can receive up to $300 per month to pay for student loan debt during the months that they serve (the year runs from September to May). The monetary amount will be based on the proven payoff need of each missionary’s student loan(s), not exceeding $300.

What if my student loan payments are deferred or in a grace period?

Before having Student Debt Assistance, we would always encourage missionaries to look into and take advantage of grace periods or deferments while serving on NET. Our recruiting team can still help you through that process.

Some loans allow you to make payments during a grace period or deferment, but others will cease once a payment is made. Since NET will only cover payments during the months that you serve, ending a grace period or deferment should be considered before opting into SDA. We encourage you to talk with your loan provider or Financial Aid counselor to understand the process.

Can I use SDA to payoff other types of debt (e.g. credit cards, car loans)?

Student Debt Assistance is only for college graduates and student loans. To be eligible, each missionary must prove graduation and that they have student loan payoff requirements.

How do I apply for SDA?

Email Amylia Bult at Amyliab@netusa.org or talk with one of our recruiters during your discernment process. We’ll work with you to confirm your debt payback needs, monthly coverage amount from NET, and practical payment details.

Note: SDA is a new initiative starting September 2025.
